[TW: Rape] The Not Rape epidemic →
Not rape came in other many other forms as well. No one escaped – all my friends had some kind of experience with it during their teen years.
Not rape was being pressured into losing your virginity in a swimming pool pump room to keep your older boyfriend happy.
Not rape was waking up in the middle of the night to find a trusted family friend in bed with you – and having nightmares about...

i agree with the first half. idk if i agree with the last. i think it takes more than religion. there are “good” people doing “evil” things in the name of religion, but then again, who sets the standards for “good” and...

Also, I’m pretty sure they use clothes-pins on the backs of models’ clothes to make their clothes look like they fit better for shoots, probably because of your #3—no piece of clothing will look perfect on a model *and* on a regular person.

autobiographies and memoirs are my favorite genre of books :)
mine, too, as of recently. it all started with Julie and Julia, and then Julia child’s autobiography, Anthony bourdain’s autobiography, and Ruth Reichl’s autobiography.
and they’re all about food XD

I understand what you had intended. :) But when discussing unrealistic beauty standards, we all have to be really, really careful that we don’t cross the line between criticizing the messages sent by advertising and body shaming.

i am calling you out on body shaming, my love. think about how saying any body type is “extremely unattractive” impacts people, especially people who fit into that body type.
you’re absolutely right, i was overly prejudiced. i’ll reword it like this: the narrow definition of beauty that fashion paints for us, excluding other body types,...

check the scale
before you put yourself on the pedestal:
people who are or feel overweight, or people who want less weight, aren’t the only people with weight issues.
not weighing enough is a valid issue, too. and one that very much does need attention.
sometimes skinny people do not feel attractive. in fact, i’m willing to bet there’s a fair portion of skinny people who wish they had more...
